Welcome to Chapter 85 of the Recreational Aircraft Association Canada.
We are a group of pilots, home-builders, and aviation enthusiasts. Most of our members are, or have been, professional pilots, and many either own certified airplanes or have built their own airplane.
Our official mandate is to support the advancement of safe, fun, and economical flying in our community and beyond. Our chapter mission is to foster, promote and engage in aviation education and experimental aircraft construction and to operate an airfield.
Chapter 85 has been a tenant of Delta Heritage Airpark since the mid-1970s. During that time, we have constructed a clubhouse and a hangar, complete with paint and work shop. The hangar, with space for six aircraft, has been rented on a monthly basis to members of the club. In addition to this space, the club manages an additional eight outdoor tie-down spaces, also available only to members.
In 1995, the former Greater Vancouver Regional District, now Metro Vancouver, purchased the airpark with the intent of turning the land into a park. After considerable negotiation, Metro Vancouver agreed to allow flying operations to continue within the park. A license agreement was signed between Metro Vancouver and Chapter 85.
Chapter 85 manages the airpark through the Delta Heritage Airpark Operating Committee (DAPCOM).
